THE WHY

Purposes and Goals?

Purposes and Goals?

The main purpose of ELM is to help 25 congregations in our city thrive within their particular social contexts and move forward with clear goals and plans. The focus is on small congregations with bi-vocational pastors who would otherwise be unable to afford consultants, coaching, and leadership training. These are the specific goals of the program:

  • To provide each congregation with the experiences, opportunities and activities it needs to better understand itself, its mission, its community, and the changing context of ministry in the 21st century.
  • To strengthen each congregation as needed in these four key areas: hospitality, worship, systems, and technology.
  • To provide B-CU graduate students in ministry an opportunity to go through the learning process with the ELM program congregations while providing a fresh perspective to the group.

FAQ’s

The 6 churches have been selected for our first cohort, which kicks off in July of 2021. However, we have three more cohorts with applications opening in March of 2022, 2023, and 2024. If you applied this year, but weren’t chosen, you will be automatically entered into the selection pool for next year.

If you are a smaller church in need, we’d encourage you to apply. All applications will be thoroughly reviewed as we lean on the Holy Spirit and His guidance. However, certain standards will be maintained in the selection process.

Absolutely! Ministry Architects, who will be helping the selected churches build blueprints for their ministries as part of the ELM program, would love to start a conversation with you about working together. You can contact us here and let us know you’ve heard about ELM!

We would love to talk to you about helping the churches in your community through grants like the Lilly Thriving Congregations Initiative funding this project. You can email Monica Lewis at Ministry Architects to find out more.
